The Gisborne Wine & Food Festival is Gisborne’s iconic Labour Weekend tradition - a big ol' celebration of everything this region does best: exceptional wine, delicious food vendors, an array of live music on stages, and great company! Whether you’re a longtime local or visiting for the long weekend, this is your invitation to unwind and enjoy it all among the gorgeous golden slopes of Gizzy!
On Sunday 26 October, explore two of the region’s most loved (and award winning) wineries, Matawhero Wines and TW Wines - each offering their own flavour of the region’s wine, culture, and atmosphere.
Matawhero Wines
This year, Matawhero celebrates 50 years of winemaking! And there’s no better place to toast to the past, present, and future of Gisborne’s wine scene. With its rich history, stunning grounds, and signature hospitality, Matawhero offers a relaxed but refined experience that draws people back year after year. Spend your afternoon exploring the vineyard, enjoying live music, and tasting your way through a line-up that reflects five decades of winemaking excellence.
TW Wines
With lounging among the vines, bold wines, and live music from start to finish.
From 12pm to 3pm, don’t miss Art in the Barn - a curated pop-up exhibition inside TW’s historic Old Barn, showcasing the work of local creatives and curated by a special guest artist. It’s a brand new addition for 2025.
Your festival ticket includes a free bus pass that takes you from central Gisborne to your first winery, connects you between both venues throughout the day, and gets you safely back to town at the end of the event.

Refunds will only be offered if the Festival is cancelled by the Festival Organisers or if a postponement date is offered and the ticket holder is not able to make a postponement date.
If any changes to the Festival need to be made by the Festival Organisers - including reducing or adding venue locations or changing times of the Festival, no refunds will be offered.
In the case of a Covid outbreak managed by the NZ Government, refunds will be offered if there is a lock-down that includes Gisborne. If the guest is in lock-down in another city and the Festival is still able to continue, the guest can request an individual refund.
